Sincere Thanks

for the warm welcome to the blogosphere from the folks at Crime and Consequences and from Doug Berman at Sentencing Law and Policy. We'll do our best to keep them from regretting the kind words. We're sure they'll let us know if we do. In the meantime, check out the first-class reaming that Doug gives Justice Kennedy for his latest ABA speech. And Doug seems like such a nice, civilized guy.

I was present at the Kennedy Speech in Honolulu. He was very articulate and seemed to speak without notes. I understood his reference to the jury still being out and referring to the Islamic world's reservations about American Democracy. Justice Kennedy's presentation was enthusiastically supported by the audience particularly his comments regarding appplying the rule of law to all subject to US jurisdiction - plainly a reference to insurgents subject to US control.
