Around the Blogs 10-24-06

Zach Patton at Governing's 13th Floor has a nice post on what he's calling "outcarceration," the shipment of inmates from overcrowded prison states to those with room (aka "cells"), noting the likely later negative impact on the inmate's reentry and positive impact on recidivism. Yet another area in which knowledge and practice are at 180 degrees. . . . Crim Prof Blog links us to a story on NJ pilot programs of services to keep mentally ill parolees from recidivating. Seems to be working so, naturally, continued funding is iffy. Better to jail them at much higher expense apparently. . . . Via Crimes and Consequences, we get another story of the wonders of crime and election campaigns, this time in MA. Not pretty, but it never is, is it?
