Fires

Doug Berman is on fire today with great links to news pieces regarding sentencing disparities, juveniles treated as adults, the ineffectiveness of most of the new child sex offender laws, and doughnuts and life sentences. Rather than summarize, just go give him some hits. . . . And after the fire at Sentencing Law and Policy, check out the links available at Real Cost of Prisons on the investigation of a private prison corp in TX, calls for closing juvenile training schools in RI, and the debt facing inmates when they are released (which doesn’t exactly help reentry). (Think Outside the Cage also had a nice post on the latter, and Teri Carns from AK (Alaska, not Arkansas) sent it along in a note as well. It’s a point we don’t often think about.)
