Practical as Well as Philosophical

The reasons for not going “three strikes” in CT are covered here and here by a public defender blog. The first is an op-ed that spells out the “down the road” effects, while the second cites a useful study on the ultimate cost-benefit of the move, which turns out more cost than benefit. The legislature hasn’t weighed in yet, though, so let’s see how effective all this is. [And speaking of failing a cost-benefit, check out this study of GPS tracking of sex offenders in WA as well, by the estimable WA Institute for Public Policy, of course.]
