Where's the Alcohol?
Two different coverages of the news that teen drug use is down overall but prescription drugs like painkillers and Ecstasy use are up here and here, complete with the stats. Except . . . any reasonable comparison of these numbers needs revelation of the comparable alcohol use numbers, which neither article provides. There's reason to believe a displacement has taken place from the illicit to the licit drugs, and even if that hasn't happened, it needs to be explicit before we know what the proper conclusions to draw from these articles are. 80% of a story doesn't get the job done.
