Paris Agonistes

True justice may yet prevail. This evening the wire services are reporting that hours after she was unexpectedly released early Thursday from custody, Paris Hilton was ordered to appear in court on Friday for a hearing on whether she will remain out of the county hoosegow.

Just in case you happened to be distracted by far less pressing issues of public concern, e.g., the Iraq war, Alberto Gonzales, the immigration crisis, Paris left the county jail after spending barely more than three days in a solitary cell. Responding to a motion filed by the city attorney's office, which prosecuted Hilton, Judge Michael T. Sauer ordered Hilton to appear for a 9 a.m. hearing regarding her early release conditioned on 40 days of confinement to her Spanish-style Hollywood Hills home and electronic monitoring. To quote the great Artie Lange, Whaaaaaaaaaaaa!!.
