Getting Reform Wrong

Turning from lethal legal drugs to illegal ones that haven't killed, this Boston Globe op-ed points out how, even when we recognize that pot policy needs to change, given the widespread use of the substance and the highly selective punishment of that use, with all the attendant delegitimizing of law and crim just as well as the discrimination, we can do it stupid. Granted, most states won't get anywhere close to even this until their prison pops reach a point at which even the biggest deniers and obstructionists can't muster a majority anymore, but this is a great cautionary note for those who will be considering these ideas in the future.
